Cape Cod Events for May 2019

Spring 2019 is here!


If you’re a local or visiting Cape Cod for the month of May, be sure and check out some of our local events happening!

5/3 - 5/5 Hyannis HyArts Artist Shanty Season Opener, starting at 11:00 am. Event is at 51 Ocean Street, Hyannis.

5/4- Brewster in Bloom at the Stony Brook Grist Mill- from 10:00 - 2:00

5/5- Brewster in Bloom Parade. Steps off at 1:00 pm from Eddy Elementary School west on Main St. to Swamp Rd. – staging begins at 11 AM at the Eddy Elementary School. This year’s theme is “Garden by the Sea”.

5/5- MA Blue Knights 43rd Annual Blessing of the Bikes at West Dennis Beach. Gates open at 9:30 am . The Blessing is promptly at 12:00 noon! $5.00 per bike. This event is rain or shine! After the Blessing please join the Cape Cod Bikers for our annual “Bless the Hogs Party at Sundancers Restaurant, Rte 28, West Dennis. From 12:30-5pm. Lunch specials, Live Entertainment with “ The Jacks”, 50/50 “plus” Raffle (1/2money goes to a Veteran) and best bike contest. No cover charge.

5/12 - Mother’s Day at Heritage Museum + Gardens, from 10:00-5:00

5/18- Kiwanis Plant Sale, Drummer Boy Park, from 10:00 - 5:00. Featuring annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, hanging plants, top soil, fertilizer and more. Proceeds provide scholarships for graduating High School seniors at Nauset and Monomoy High Schools and support local organizations that help children on Cape Cod.

5/19- YPD Run for a Reason, 11:00-1:-00 - Join us for the the 12th Annual YPD Blue 5K Run For A Reason! This beautiful and flat 3.1 mile course begins at 11:00 am and runs along the ocean. It is an event to remember! A kids fun run at 10:00 am kick starts the day. There will be items for sale, auction items and raffles, hosted by the ever popular and wonderful The Skipper Chowder House.

5/25- The Garden Club of Harwich Plant Sale, Doane Park, from 9:00-12:-00. Plant Sale; Perennials, Annuals, Hanging Baskets, Shrubs, Garden Gifts, Bake Sale, Drawing & Much More. RAIN OR SHINE

5/25- Operation Flags for Vets, at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne. Starting at 10am, there will be a short ceremony at the flagpole, followed by volunteers planting small flags on graves. 

5/26- Wareham Oyster Festival, downtown Wareham for the sixth annual celebration of music, crafts, food, and of course some of the best shellfish on the east coast. The free festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street, which will be closed to vehicular traffic during that time. Some 20 food vendors will offer a variety of fare, with the focus on shellfish. Attendees can try oysters from three different farms in Wareham and from throughout Cape Cod, Buzzards Bay, and Rhode Island.

5/27- Troops in the Spotlight. At Kmart Plaza, in Hyannis, this 24-hour event honors veterans, wounded warriors, and Gold and Blue Star families. The opening ceremony begins at 11:30 am on Sunday. The special honor ceremony for Vietnam vets starts at 2 pm. The flag-lowering ceremony and playing of Taps happens at midnight. The closing ceremony is at 11 am on Monday.
